Amiee Ivey of Cleveland, Ga., enjoys spending time with her family at Lake Hartwell, where her parents have a house.
“The water is gorgeous,” Ivey said. “It’s a wonderful place.”
While she often enjoys swimming in the lake, this Memorial Day weekend her husband Brandon enjoyed spending time fishing.
She thought the sight of him fishing looked good, so she snapped the photo.
“I just took it to take it,” she said. “I didn’t think it was anything special.”
At home in Cleveland, she saw there was a photo contest for the Summer Lake Living cover in the White County News, and decided to enter the photo.
The photo turned out to be something special — she won the contest and the photo is on the cover of Lake Living.
She was surprised to learn she won. Ivey works at a poultry supply company, and doesn’t consider herself a photographer.
“It really shocked me,” Ivey said.
Her husband hadn’t even seen the photo yet. She said he was a little shocked when she told him and showed him the photo.
