Thelma Lou Carver Saunders, of Clayton, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Born on Dec. 25, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Paul Washington Carver and Lillian Wilburn Carver.

Thelma was the neighborhood’s mother. All of her children’s friends used to hang out at her house when they were young, and she always invited them to eat at their table. She also loved to dance and listen to music.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Wallace (Les), Lindsay Hopper (Jim), and Linda Caldwell; five sons, Roger Saunders (Kathy), Donnie Saunders, Stevie Saunders (Daisy), Todd Saunders (Patti) and Tony Saunders; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Clayton (Gene); and one brother Paul Stewart; also, several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Hunter Funeral Home is serving the Saunders family.
