Sondra Sue Martin Anderson (Soni), 79, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, July 2, 2022. She was at her new home adjacent to her daughter and son-in-law in Granville, Ohio.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 5, 1943, she was the only daughter of Charlie and Gretchen Martin. She met the love of her life, Richard Carl Anderson (Carl) when she was just 8 years old. Once married, she followed Carl through his naval career to a variety of locations including Newfoundland.
Soni and Carl returned to Ann Arbor and started a family. Daughter Lisa was born in December 1965 and daughter Kristi was born in July 1968.
In 1973, they moved to Bradenton, Florida and were successful small business owners until retiring to the mountains of Lakemont, Ga., in 1997. Soni and Carl are members of Flat Creek Baptist Church where Soni also served as the Church’s treasurer and was a beloved children’s Sunday School teacher. They moved to Granville, Ohio, in 2021 to be closer to family. In the last days of her life, Soni met her first Great-Grandchild and celebrated 60 years of marriage to the love of her life; Carl.
Soni is survived by her husband, Carl; Daughters Lisa Anderson Willson (Frank), Kristi Anderson Binkley (Steve), Granddaughters Loren Willson Hinz (Cory), Grayson Callaway Willson and Carly Elise Willson; Grandsons Connor Michael Binkley (Katie) and Griffin Matthew Binkley; and Great-Grandson Harrison Calloway Hinz.
The family will be announcing plans for a small memorial service in Lakemont in the coming months.
Reflecting Soni’s dedication to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Soni’s honor could be mailed to Flat Creek Baptist Church, 1433 Low Gap Road, Lakemont, GA 30552.
