Robert Crandall Holt died at his home Oct. 18, 2022. He is survived by his wife Linda Dodson Holt; son Samuel Holt; granddaughter Grace Holt; stepsisters Lysbeth Bainbridge (Steve Ramberg), and Sarah Bainbridge Akridge (Chip); and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Bob was pre-deceased by his parents Emmy Lou Crandall Holt and Jack Nelson Holt of Oak Ridge, Tenn., son Scott Crandall Holt, brother Philip Nelson Holt, sister Suzanne Lindholm, stepmother Grace Bainbridge Holt and stepbrother, Rt. Reverend Harry Bainbridge.
Bob was born in Oxford, Miss., on Nov. 22, 1936. He grew up in Vicksburg, Miss., and Oak Ridge, Tenn. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and was commissioned in the U.S. Navy in June, 1958. After attending the Naval Supply Corps School in Athens, Ga., he served aboard the USS Huse, DE-145 and also at the Glynco Naval Air Station, Brunswick, Ga.
Bob was retired from The Beck Group in Atlanta, a company that provides architecture, construction, and consulting services. Notable projects he was involved in included One Atlantic Center, Underground Atlanta, The Ritz Carlton, USAA Headquarters in Tampa and Union Station in St. Louis. After his retirement he moved to Rabun County, Georgia, where he was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Clayton, pursued his hobby of gardening and the riches of the Rabun County Library.
