Mrs. Joyce Eldredge Morris, 89, passed away on June 28 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Atlanta, Ga., she lived her life in the Atlanta area until she and her husband Ray retired to Tallulah Falls, Ga. She was passionate about many things in life. She was a lifelong Methodist, committed member of the United Methodist Women, stalwart defender of the underdog, bird enthusiast, home cook extraordinaire, flower gardener, avid Rich’s shopper, and the best fisherman in the family. Her true passion and deepest love were reserved for her family and friends. She loved her husband of 56 years with all her heart. They met on a blind date and never had eyes for anyone else after that serendipitous night. She mothered five children whom she loved equally despite everyone believing they were the favorite. She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, loving her, and being loved by her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Judson Eldredge; her siblings, Jud Eldredge, Evelyn Jones, JB Eldredge, Juanita Davis, and Jack Eldredge; and two children, David Jeanes and Michael Jeanes.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Morris; son, Jeff Jeanes of Sunrise, Fla.; daughters, Connie Morris of Rome, Ga., and Kathy Morris of Social Circle, Georgia; grandsons Trevor Jeanes and Tristian Jeanes; numerous nieces and nephews; and Rufus, her beloved cat.

The family is eternally grateful to her caregivers who provided her with dignified and loving care to the very end, Jackie, Bryson, Erricka, Kimberly, Judy, Danyelle, Kae, and Mona Leisa.

She was a member of Tallulah Falls United Methodist Church in Tallulah Falls, Ga. The family received friends on Sunday, July 3, 2022, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the church. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with Reverend James Turpen officiating. Trevor Jeanes, Tristian Jeanes, Connie Morris, Kathy Morris, Gary Elzey, and Melissa Elzey will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at the Tallulah Falls UMC cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to her favorite charities, Tallulah Falls UMC and Murphy Harpst Children’s Home.
