Rabun County native shows off over 70 years of gardening experience

Rabun County native Joey Davenport tends to this year’s garden at his home on the east side of Clayton where he is growing okra, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, watermelons, tomatoes, beans, and cantaloupe. He proudly holds a cabbage and Pattypan squash he recently grew.

Davenport was raised in the Persimmon area and shares memories of his time gardening while growing up, especially growing potatoes. Davenport has now been gardening for over 70 years and shares the garden with his daughter Jennifer Davenport.
