Harriet Gravley Dayton, 77, of Clayton, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at her home.

She was born Oct. 17, 1936, in the Warwoman community of Rabun County to the late William Roy Gravley and Kancie Galloway Gravley. She was employed by Clayburne Manufacturing Company and held other jobs over a period of years along with being a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dayton was preceded in death by: two brothers, William Franklin Gravley and Roy Craig Gravley; and three sisters, Annie Helen Owens, Rosa Inez Beasley and Patricia Gail Gravley.

Survivors include: two sons, Raymond Anthony “Tony” Harding (Wanda) of Demorest and Gregory Darrell “Greg” Dayton of Clayton; a brother, the Rev. Bill Gravley of Lakemont; two sisters, Sarah Jane Smith of Tiger, and Belle Barnes of Denver, N.C.; two grandchildren, Holly Harding and Ernest Ray Harding; and a great-grandchild, Zain Harding.

The body has been cremated, and a memorial service was held Saturday at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gravley officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in her memory to Hunter Funeral Home, P.O. Box 653 Clayton, GA 30525 to aid in funeral expenses.
