Susie Belle Smith, 96, of the Wolf Creek community, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Mountain View Health Care.

She was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Rabun County to the late Marvin H. Smith and Julia West Smith. She was a registered nurse who worked at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and for Dr. B.L. Shackleford. She was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include: two sisters, Louise Smith Patterson of New Bern, N.C., and Anne Smith Johnson of Tiger; two brothers, Curtis Smith and sister-in-law Marguerite of Stella, N.C., and Roland Smith of Lakemont; two nephews, Dennis F. Johnson and Jonathan J. Johnson, both of Atlanta; and two nieces, Joallison Brosius of Berea, Ky., and Julie Hoialmen of Roswell. The nephews and nieces were like grandchildren to her.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Hunter Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Cannon officiating. Burial followed at Wolf Creek Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Wolf Creek Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 306, Wiley, GA 30581.
