Hattie Lee Hopper Burnette, 94, of Mountain City, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Mountain View Health Care.

She was born in Dillard to the late Hattie Lucille Ledbetter Hopper and Green Hopper. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burnette was preceded in death by: her husband, Otis Burnette; and a son, Lamar Burnette.

Mrs. Burnette is survived by: a son, Vernon O. Burnette and wife Verena of Rabun Gap; four daughters, Donna Best of Rabun Gap, Diane Blalock Campbell and husband Duane of Rabun Gap, Sandra Hopton of Mountain City and Brenda and EJ Rogers of Toccoa; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to quilt and enjoyed canning jams, pickles and jellies and caring for her beautiful flowers. She was a member and attended Scaly Mountain (N.C.) Church of God.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Al Sizemore and Norman Dryman officiating. Burial followed at Wesley Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Wren Worley officiating.

The family will be at the home of Donna Best on John Beck Dockins Road.
