Richard H. Schuh, 72, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Sunday, July 21, 2013, surrounded by family.

Born in St. Petersburg, he graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1958 and then later from Embry-Riddle with an airframe and power plant license. He was an adventurous aircraft mechanic who worked for a race pilot, airlines and bush pilots. He had a soft spot for children and lost dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. Harold and Della Schuh.

He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Margaret; children and their spouses, Brian and Denise Schuh, Lee and Yeun Hi Schuh, Andrew and Sarah Schuh, Katherine and Michael St. John, and Heidi and Dennis Foley; 10 grandchildren; and more than 40 foster children whom he cared for during his life.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 467 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg. Donations may be made in his name to the Christ United Methodist Church.
