Roy Martin Conner, 50, of Rabun Gap, affectionally known as “Marty,” died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 24, 1962, in Franklin, N.C., to Clifford E.Conner and Carolyn Darnell Conner. He was a chef and a member of Newman Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Darnell Conner Hicks, and a brother, Bobby Edwin “Bird” Conner.

He is survived by: his father and stepmother, Clifford and Margie Conner of Clayton; two brothers, Harvey Conner and wife Susan of Otto, N.C., and Robbie Conner of Rabun Gap; two nieces, Kate and Anna Conner; two nephews, Evan Conner and Jonathan York; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends.

The body has been cremated, and a memorial service was held Wednesday at Wolffork Christian Fellowship Church with officiating by the Revs. Ray Conner and Roy Conner.
