Gene Earl Martin, 56, of Rabun Gap, passed away peacefully in his sleep Dec. 22, 2012.

He was born June 1, 1956, in Gainesville, where he spent several years working in the family business, G. H. Martin Boathouses on Lake Lanier, before moving to Rabun Gap, which he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, G. H. Martin.

He is survived by: his mother, Nadean Martin; loving wife, Patsy Kelly Martin of Rabun Gap; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Karen and Kevin Panico, Lynn and Bill Wise and Sandra and Tim Million; two stepsons and their wives, Dennis and Glenda Kelly and John and Monique Kelly; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and their wives, Benny and Ann and Nick and Mae; one sister and her husband, Anna and Joe Twiggs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was dearly loved by all his family and many friends, and he will forever hold a place in our hearts.

He was a member of Chestatee Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, his desire was that memorial donations be made to the Chestatee Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Arlin Pirkle, 4872 Mount Vernon Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
