Ruth Kilby, widow of the late Farish Kilby and formerly Ruth Leilah-Bell Hollifield, has been rescued by the Lord.

Born in 1917 to Emory and Mary Arrendale Hollifield, she was a lifelong resident of the Timpson and Persimmon communities. At various times, Ruth was a teacher, factory worker, shopkeeper, baker and homesteader, but she was always an observer and listener. Ruth knew all of our stories — celebrated our triumphs and worried with us through tribulations. She leaves behind many who loved and admired her kindness.

A memorial service was held Wednesday in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Shannon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please support a congregation Ruth cherished: King Memorial Church, 4922 Persimmon Road, Clayton, GA 30525.

Beck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. An online guestbook is available at http://www.beckfuneralhome.com.
