Carol Young Thomas, 57, of Lakemont, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at her residence.

She was born in Rabun County to Burrell Young and Carrie Bell Hensley Young.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Young.

Carol is survived by: her loving husband, Cary W. Thomas of Lakemont; two sons, Marcus Thomas and fiancé Melissa Williams of Lakemont and Matt Thomas and wife Jessica of Lakemont; a daughter, Chris Rymer and husband Jeff of Ocoee, Tenn.; a brother, Alan Young of Clayton; four grandchildren, Chase Andrews, who died shortly after his grandmother’s death, Jonathon Andrews, Zachary Rymer and Marlon Thomas.

She worked for many years at Ridgecrest Hospital as an emergency room and outpatient administrator and for Rabun County 911. She was a member of Clayton Church of God, a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Her family was always her number one priority. She enjoyed life and was a fun-loving person and a friend to all.

A memorial service was held Saturday in the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Alexander officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Emergency Service Memorial Fund, recognizing the public safety service in Rabun County, in the name of Carol Thomas in care of Rabun County Bank.
