Melissa Bernice Vinson Crain, 60, of Westminster, S.C., wife of Gary Allan Crain, passed away, Monday, July 16, 2012, at Greenville (S.C.) Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Rabun Gap to Lazelle Chastain Vinson Turner of Dillard and the late Jesse Salem Vinson. She was a retired Realtor. She also was member of Chauga Baptist Church, where she taught children’s church and was a member of the choir.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include: three sons, Michael Crain and wife Keisha of Blythewood, S.C., the Rev. Matthew Crain and wife Tonya of Westminster and Bryan Crain and wife Julie, also of Westminster; brothers, Terry Vinson of Dillard, Tony Vinson and wife Shelley of Rabun Gap, Troy Vinson and wife Laura of Scaly Mountain, N.C., and Trenton Vinson and wife Tracy of Dillard; sisters, Sheila Vinson Shook and husband Jerry and Joy Vinson Phillips and husband Charles, all of Clayton; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Tucker, Sophie and Sadie Crain.

A funeral service was held Wednesday in the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial followed at Chauga Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Chauga Baptist Church, 150 Chauga Church Road, Westminster, SC 29693.
