He was born July 10, 1925, in Rabun County to the late Roosevelt and Clyde Shope Burrell. He retired as a maintenance worker on the Tallulah Falls Railway and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Jenkins.
He survived by: a daughter, Joan Burrell Carpenter of Otto, N.C.; two granddaughters, Cathy Carpenter and Evonne Tallent; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Tallent and Tiffany Hurst and husband Joey; a brother, R.L. Burrell of Franklin, N.C.; and a sister, Willie Kate McDowell of Otto.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Newman Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Alton Dendy and layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
