Arvilla Gertrude Telles Gillespie, affectionately known as “Trudy,” 96, of Clayton, widow of Marvin M. Gillespie, died Friday, June 1, 2012, in Savannah.

She was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Batesville, Ind., to the late Jacob and Flora Blank Telles. She was co-owner/operator of Marvin’s Restaurant in Clayton for a number of years and was a member of Clayton First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Church, three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lawrence and Marie Gillespie of Clayton; a daughter and a son-in-law, Linda and Scott Sutt of Savannah; a sister, Sue Lewis; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Clayton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Ray and Ed Gillespie officiating. Burial followed at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery.
