James Carr Grizzard died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Gainesville after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Grizzard was a 1969 graduate of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. He was an active member in both the Burns Club and the St. Andrews Society of Atlanta and served as president of the Kerr Family Association of North America.

He is survived by: his wife, Corinne; two brothers, George King Grizzard of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Stephen Jones Grizzard of Clarkesville; a sister, Jeannine Annette Grizzard of Ashland, Ore.; and two nieces Virginia King Grizzard-Brierley of Los Angeles and Elizabeth Jones Grizzard of Atlanta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the charity of one’s choice.
