Billy Ray Wall, 76, of Lilburn, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.

A native of Lakemont, Georgia, Mr. Wall was retired from MCI Trucking after 40 years in the trucking industry. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an active member, deacon, choir member and member of the kitchen staff at First Baptist Church of Lilburn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Brooks Wall.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Estes Wall of Lilburn. Affectionately known as “Papa Bill,” he will be greatly missed by his adoptive family, Joseph and Susan Estes, Jana and Todd Hunt, Kellie Estes, seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Maxine Southards of Mountain City, Dorothy Stockton of Alto, Patsy McCracken of Lakemont and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Lilburn with the Rev. Ken Hall and Susan Rumble officiating. The remains will be placed in state at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway, suite 260, Duluth, GA 30097.

Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
