J.C. Maney, 68, of Tiger, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Hayesville, N.C., to the late Don and Fannie Mae Bingham Maney. He was the husband of Peggy Patton Maney. He retired from golf course maintenance and was of the Church of God faith.

He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Gladys Maney and Bertha Knight; a brother, Buddy Maney; and a granddaughter, Allie Renea Henry.

He is survived by: his wife, Peggy Patton Maney of Tiger; two sons, Jeffrey Maney and Gregory Maney, both of Clayton; two daughters, Greta Maney of Bryson City, N.C., and Lizzie Cunningham of Tiger; three brothers, Bill Maney of Morgan, N.C., Dee Maney of Cleveland and Jerry Maney of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Kay Church and Judy Chastain, both of Clayton; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at Hunter Funeral Home with the Revs. J.C. Quilliams and Scott Woodard officiating. The Rev. Gene Collins conducted the graveside service at Pickett Cemetery.
