Thomas Lloyd “Tom” Broaddrick, 84, of Tiger, died Sunday, May 13, 2012.

Tom grew up in Dalton, the ninth child of Dr. George L. and Maud Hayes Broaddrick. He attended the University of Georgia, earning a degree in chemistry and zoology after military service in the U.S. Navy at the close of World War II. He enjoyed a career spanning over 30 years with DuPont in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Kinston, N.C. Among his interests were fishing, golf, woodworking and crafts.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Sally Squires Broaddrick; a son, Christopher Allen Broaddrick (Cynthia) of Black Mountain, N.C.; a daughter, Ellen Broaddrick Gould (Walter) of Oxford, N.C.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Beck Funeral Home. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:30 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Clayton Coffee Club, which Tom faithfully served for many years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Richard’s Kids, 47 Deer Creek Trail, Clayton, GA 30525-4373; or to Clayton Presbyterian Church.
