Russell Dean Tasker, 84, of Rabun Gap, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Mountain Lakes Medical Center.

He was born in Maryland to the late Fred March Tasker and Agnes Jenkins Tasker Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Tasker. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Joan Lawter Tasker.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served his country during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 220 in Clayton. He was a master printer for the Dayton Press for 30 years and retired from World Color Printing Company in Evans. After his retirement, he volunteered his time delivering food for Meals on Wheels. Russell was a member of Dillard United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the men’s group and ushered at the church for many years. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men’s Organization. He loved being outdoors and was a very caring and loving husband.

Funeral services were held Monday at Dillard United Methodist Church with the Revs. Doug Aultman, James Turpen, Doug Volk and Sammy Clark officiating. Burial followed at Wesley Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dillard United Methodist Church or to Meals on Wheels through the Rabun County Senior Center.
