Russell C. Hunnicutt, 68, of Mountain City, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 9, 1945, in Rabun County to Jable and Corrie Eller Hunnicutt. Russell was a heavy equipment operator and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Lewis and Ted Hunnicutt; and a sister, Joy Hunnicutt Singletary.

Survivors include: his wife, Rose Emory Hunnicutt of Mountain City; a son, Scott Hunnicutt (Michelle) of Mountain City; two daughters, Kimberly Deal (David) of Mountain City and Donna Bennett (Phillip) of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Buster Hunnicutt of Otto, N.C., and Ed Hunnicutt of Mountain City; three sisters, Lena Gragg of Lakemont, Lorraine Myer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Laura Penland of Mountain City; eight grandchildren, Heather (Jereme), Joseph, Rusty, Rhett, Raechel, Marcie, Cody and Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Westin and Koltin; and several beloved nephews and nieces.

The body is being cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is at the home on Electric Avenue in Mountain City.
