Ruby Maudine Smith, 83, of Clayton, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 2012, at Mountain Lakes Medical Center.

She was the daughter of Vergel Carol and Bertha Josephine McWhortor Smith, the last member of her immediate family and a lifelong resident of Rabun County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Mae McCrackin and Rena Dion; and four brothers, Milton, Claude, Alfred and Edward Smith.

Ms. Smith is survived by: a number of nieces and nephews; two very special great-nieces, Tonya Ramey and husband Anthony and Torri Beck all of Clayton; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Smith of Clayton.

She was a salesperson for European spas for many years and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid Braves fan and loved country music, especially Alan Jackson.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Cannon officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery.
