Perry served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a reconnaissance photographer on the USS Kitty Hawk. He was a licensed private pilot who enjoyed flying with a great passion. He was a 10-year employee with Buhler Quality Yarn in Jefferson.
Perry was preceded in death by: his son, Zach Hayes; grandparents, Ernest and Georgia Boss; two brothers, Gregory Mitchell Boss and Ricky Fred Boss; and his father-in-law, Marvin Vandiver.
Perry is survived by: his wife, Kay Vandiver Boss; his parents, Fred and Jean Boss of Clayton; daughter and daughter-in-law, Shannon Boss and Melinda Taylor of Destin, Fla.; daughter, Alicia Lauren Boss; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Travis Dennis of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Boss) and Mike Halbrook of Demorest; mother-in-law, Louise Vandiver of Clermont; granddaughters, Elle Taylor and Wren Dennis; grandsons, Christian Remillard and Archer Dennis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Mike Johnson of Valdosta and Melissa and Jorge Duran of Alto; two nephews, two nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m. today at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with Dr. Bill Coates officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, an educational fund has been set up for his youngest daughter, Alicia. Those who desire may make donations to any Wells Fargo Bank location in the name of Alicia Lauren Boss.
