Octavia Moore “Tavia” Holcomb, 78, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Lake City.

She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Rabun County to John and Julia Watts Moore. She was the widow of George M. Holcomb. Tavia spent most of her life in Morrow. She was a homemaker and a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Clayton County.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Moore, Lorene Lovell, Doris Alley and Ruth Duncan.

Survivors include: a son, George Holcomb (Gail) of Vidalia; two daughters, Barbara Holcomb Black of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Linda Holcomb Palmer of McDonough; three sisters, Jean Watkins of Conyers, Betty Hawkins (Harold) of Lake City and Christine Burks of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Friday in the Hunter Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. George Holcomb and layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed in Roane Cemetery.
