James O. Henry, 69, of Mountain City, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 16, 1943, in Scaly Mountain, N.C., and he lived most of his life in Rabun County. He was a son of the late Oliver Raymond and Ruby Carpenter Henry. He was an electrician and plumber by trade and a member of the North Clayton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: his wife Marjorie Justice Henry; a granddaughter, Allie Renee Henry; and two brothers, Kenneth and Fred Henry.

Survivors include: a son, Dan Henry of Mountain City; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Henry Walters and Andy Walters of Hartwell; two brothers, Paul Henry of Lanett, Ala., and William Tim and Rhonda Henry of Hartwell; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Lucille and John Blanton of Goose Creek, S.C., Martha Nichols of Tamassee, S.C., Jane and Wallace McCall of West Union, S.C., Louise and Terry Phillips of Clayton and Linda and Haskel Hopkins of Lakemont; three grandchildren, Matthew Henry and fiancee Kendal Shirley, and Alex and Adam Walters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at North Clayton Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Conner and layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery in Otto, NC.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home, where the family was to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family is at the home on Hunt Avenue in Mountain City.
