He was born in Rabun County to the late Virgil George and Hester Crone Dixon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Lavina Whitmire Dixon; three sons, Richard Dixon, Billy Dixon and Eddie Dixon; three brothers, Coil Dixon, Dewey Dixon and Lloyd Dixon; and two sisters, Connie D. Burrell and Carrie D. York.
Mr. Dixon is survived by: a daughter, Lynn Dixon Beck and husband Victor of Clayton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Scruggs Dixon of Cumming; seven grandchildren, Charlie Beck, Eric Dixon, Corey Beck, Andy Beck, Paul Dixon, Gayla Dixon and Leah Dixon; eight great-grandchildren; and extended family members.
He was a lifelong resident of Rabun County, where he was a poultry farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Nichols officiating. Burial followed at Pickett Cemetery.
Donations in Mr. Dixon’s memory may be made to Clayton Volunteer Fire Department or to the Tallulah-Persimmon Volunteer Fire Department.
