He was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Manchester to Tommy Lee Walker and Ida Idelle Cowart Wall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph William “Billy” Walker; a sister, Frances Eldora “Dody” Sutton; and his only niece, Penelope “Penny” Sutton Bethel.
He is survived by four great-nieces, Allison Bethel Carpenter of Greensboro, N.C., Charity Caraway Bethel of Denver, Elizabeth Sutton Bethel of Clayton and Frances Agnes Bethel of Atlanta.
Mr. Walker was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Miami. He moved to Clayton in 1993 after he retired. He loved playing the guitar and singing country music.
Visitation was held Friday at Beck Funeral Home.
